Women’s network provides hearty soups to frail care residents
Fifteen hearty chicken and corn soups were provided to fragile care residents and staff at the Bluff Haven Rest Home.
NEWER and creative ways to reach out to the aged while observing Covid-19 safety regulations were part of the Corporate Communications Officer for Brighton Beach SAPS, Captain Louise le Roux’s task in her recent initiative.
Created and implemented by her, the Women’s Network outreach initiative showcased the station’s social responsibility towards the aged within the policing prescient on Tuesday, 23 June.
“The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the way we go about our daily activities. The Brighton Beach Women’s Network had to, in-line with the regulations, re-strategise how it was to host an outreach towards the aged, as home visits to care centres are not permitted,” said Capt Le Roux, who opted for the outreach to be hosted in the form of a knock and drop.
Fifteen hearty chicken and corn soups were provided to fragile care residents and staff at the Bluff Haven Rest Home. These were placed in decorated containers. Included in the delivery were the recipe, disposable decorated soup bowls, spoons, serviettes and a Covid-19 lollipop themed for each resident and caregiver.
“Through this initiative the strategic objective of the organisation was achieved by partnering with civilians and organisations that show care for the aged within the policing prescient during the pandemic,” said Captain Le Roux who expressed her gratitude towards the Cowan Family from New Jersey in America, who supported the initiative by donating the ingredients.
