Help curb trade of stolen goods – Brighton Beach Police
Through its campaign, members of the Brighton Beach Police encouraged the community to refrain from buying stolen goods and to report criminal activity.
THE ongoing battle against illicit trade, particularly in stolen copper cable and non-ferrous metals, recently received a significant boost through a strategic flyer campaign orchestrated by local stakeholders.
Geared towards fostering awareness and community engagement, this endeavour aims to quell the demand for pilfered goods while advocating for the reporting of criminal activities.

Spanning various intersections along Bluff Road, Brighton Beach, the campaign saw the distribution of 1 000 flyers. Captain Louise le Roux, Brighton Beach Police communications officer, underscored the importance of this concerted effort, emphasising the imperative for residents to refrain from purchasing or selling stolen items.
“Every community member bears the responsibility to disrupt the chain of criminality by rejecting any offers involving stolen goods,” noted Le Roux.
Highlighting the success of this collaborative policing initiative, Le Roux affirmed that strategic police objectives were achieved. The initiative not only targeted crime generators but also imparted valuable education while garnering community cooperation in the battle against criminal activities within Brighton Beach.
Expressing gratitude towards stakeholders, such as Safer Cities, Brighton Beach CPF Main-Forum, Bluff CPF Sub-Forum, RTL8, ET Rapid Response and the Brighton Beach Vispol Support team, Le Roux emphasised the prominent inclusion of contact details for reporting theft and illegal trading of copper cable and other non-ferrous metals.
These details encompassed avenues such as the My SAPS Mobile App (12310111#) and the Crime Stop tip-off line (08600 10111).
