Community support needed for ‘Keep A Child Alive’

The internationally recognised organisation has one of its branches situated in Wentworth. The organisation was co-founded by international singer Alicia Keys.

AMID a world often riddled with disparities and adversities, Keep A Child Alive (KCA) shines as a beacon of hope, extending vital aid to children and families in need.

Nestled in Wentworth, the KCA Youth Hub, affectionately known as the Blue Roof, stands out as a prominent outpost of the organisation. Initially established in 2005 as an HIV clinic, the Blue Roof has since transformed into a vibrant haven devoted to nurturing and empowering young minds.

Operating across diverse spheres, KCA addresses pivotal facets of child welfare and community upliftment. From spearheading digital inclusion initiatives to fostering educational programmes, advocating for climate consciousness, responding to emergencies, championing gender rights, and offering healthcare assistance, KCA tackles multifaceted challenges with a comprehensive approach.

At the helm of KCA Wentworth is Tom Butterworth, the programme director, who diligently steers the organisation’s myriad projects and endeavours. Butterworth, deeply dedicated to KCA’s mission of effecting tangible change in the lives of children and youth, tirelessly ensures the efficient utilisation of every donation and resource.

Co-founded in 2003 by the illustrious musician, Alicia Keys, and activist Leigh Blake, KCA remains steadfast in its mission to ensure that every child, irrespective of circumstance, can flourish and realise their full potential.
