Montclair Police intensify crime prevention measures
The recent police crime-awareness campaigns have been aimed to eradicate criminal activities in Montclair and surrounding areas.
MONTCLAIR Social Crime Prevention, in collaboration with Vispol members, recently held an awareness campaign addressing business robberies in Clairwood.
Sergeant Noma Mnguni of the Montclair Police Station said the aim of this initiative is to raise awareness of the increase in business robberies in the area. Mnguni said the police have been inundated with calls from concerned business owners reporting robbery incidents at their businesses.

“The business owners appreciated this opportunity for awareness and urged the police to increase their visibility as criminal activities seem to escalate weekly in the area.
“The police also conducted foot patrols in the area. Residents were encouraged to call the police when seeing suspicious individuals and vehicles lacking licence plates. Pamphlets were also distributed to businesses to further educate the community,” said Mnguni.

In a separate effort, social crime prevention and Vispol members held an awareness campaign for theft-from-motor-vehicles in Yellowwood Park earlier this month.
“The pamphlets were distributed to the Yellowwood Park community as the area has seen a rise in reported theft.
“The team conducted a knock-and-drop distribution of the pamphlets to the affected areas, including Montclair. More than 150 pamphlets were distributed to the community,” Mnguni added.
