Update: Gavin Hegter’s assault case to resume in March
Ward 64 councillor Gavin Hegter's assault case was adjourned in court until March 7.
WARD 64 councillor Gavin Hegter, who is facing a charge of assault, will appear again at the Wentworth Magistrate’s Court on March 7 after the the matter was adjourned because Hegter opted to be represented by his own legal representative.

Outside court, a group of ANC supporters, carrying placards with some messages written in Zulu saying “Usishayelani Gavin? – which can be loosely translated as, “Why are you hitting us Gavin,” – waited to get final details of the case.

As Hegter walked out of court, he met the ANC supporters who were waiting outside the court. In an unexpected turn, he giggled and hugged one of them.
Among the people who came to show support for Hegter were Brenda Neal and Belinda Harcombe of the Montclair Crime Eye Group.
