Level 5 weather warning issued for KZN

The heavy rains are expected to continue during the course of the day. Residents are urged to take extreme care

MOTORISTS are urged to be extremely cautious when travelling on the road as many roads are currebtly waterlogged.

Affected areas 


The following roads are flooded:

  • Foreshore Drive on The Bluff
  • Tara Road from Showgrounds between Checkers  and Shell garage
  • Solomon Mahlangu Drive (leaving The Bluff).
  • Brighton Beach Road
  • M4 towards the old airport
  • M4 on Prospecton Road off ramp.

Early this week, KZN Cogta, numerous calls have been received from residents on the South Coast alerting authorities about the flooded roads.

Residents are urged to take extreme care and avoid travelling in affected areas.

According to SA Weather Service, the heavy rains lashed the province with eThekwini receiving 10 mm rainfall thus far, amd is expected yo continue during the course of the day – this may result in flooding.

SA Weather service has issued level 5 weather warning for KZN. Heavy downpours leading to flooding, severe thunderstorms, hail and damaging winds, are expected over the southern and western parts of the province.


eThekwini Municipality has urged residents to avoid flooded areas.
