Massive fire breaks out in Clairwood

A huge fire has broken out at what is believed to be a factory in Clairwood; at this stage it is unknown if there are any reported injuries.

BILLOWING clouds of smoke can be seen from various parts of the Durban South after what is believed to be a used oil business building caught on fire on Dayal Road, Clairwood this afternoon (May 12).

Garrith Jamieson, spokesperson for ALS Paramedics, said that emergency services have been dispatched to the scene after dense smoke clouds were spotted. 

“Firefighters from eThekwini Fire Department are currently fighting the blaze and gained control of the massive fire. At this stage there are no reported injuries,” said Jamieson, 

He added that the eThekwini Fire Department has closed Dayal Road. Motorists are urged to seek alternative routes.
