Wentworth congratulates Bluff on challenge bowls win

WENTWORTH Bowling Club had a busy week.
After the Wentworth/ Bluff challenge bowls played on Wednesday, 24 September, congratulations go to Bluff who won the men's section and the women's teddy bear section as well.
The first 60/40 board was won by Brian Smith and Maria Cavanagh, second board was won by (Lucky Lips) Rob Davies twice. Zoe Dougall won the meat raffle and the lucky man Rob Davies won the whisky raffle.
In the Rawsons breakfast trips played on Thursday, 25 September, first prize was taken by Ken Thomas, Lucuyo and Val McCathrey with 4 + 10. Second prize went to William Richardson, Bob Hayward and Johan Nel with 4 + 9 and second session winners were Dennis Gericke, Keith Wild and Eric Miller with 2 + 15. The whisky raffle was won by Dave Carrol and the meat went to Dennis Gericke. First 60/40 board was won by Derick Stevans and Dawn Spack and the second board was won by Ellen Loots and John Somerville, keeping the winnings in the family. The perch now stands on R450. The club missed the rowdy Rawsons teams, due to them attending sales training. They will be back next month.
The Bluff Meats men's pensioners bowls played on Friday, 26 September saw first prize won by Arnie Harper, Herbie Roux and Neil Smith with + 20. Second prize went to Gerald Caster Royle, Andy Cloete and Henry Welgemoed with + 6. Herby Hoffman, Robbie Carr and Smiler Wilesmith took the sportsman prize. The pork raffle was won by Ina Davies and Stan (my man) McKenzie won the beef. The first 60/40 board was won by Herby Hoffman and Tomcat Cavanagh, second board went to Brian Deats and Ina Davies.
In the Big Jim played on Sunday, 28 September, overall winners were Terry Micholson and Ron Gillespie with 4 + 14. First session went to lovely couple Kurt and Dawn Spack with 2 + 17 and second session was taken by Frank Greyvenstein and Willie Gericke. Terry Micholson took home the whisky, while Maria Cavanagh is cooking the meat she won. The next Big Jim will be on 26 October.
Chicken run casual bowls will be on Sunday, 5 October at 9am. The format will be 2-4-2 any pairs. This is for all those bowlers not involved in any standing Sunday competition.
