Local artists invited to Regional Carnival

As the festive season creeps in, the City of Joburg’s Community Development department in Region D in gearing up in preparation of its annual Regional Carnival.
The department is calling upon all Soweto artists who would like to be part of these festivities to submit their CVs and portfolios of their work.
Nkosana Lekotjolo of the City of Joburg said that at this stage they are still busy with the planning of the event, but these celebrations would be to welcome the New Year.
He said: “This is part the celebrating the different forms of art and culture we have in the country, hence we have invited anyone with an artistic ability to participate in the initiative.
“After bringing in their CVs and portfolios the artists will be briefed further regarding the events.
“The regional carnival will be hosted in December; however, before then we will host mini carnivals for all seven regions in Johannesburg.”
Artists from Soweto should submit their required documents to at the Jabulani Civic UBC offices, at 1 Koma Road, Jabulani by November 1.
They will then be informed on the venue and date of their mini carnival in the near future.
After the mini carnival, representatives from all seven Johannesburg regions will form part of the final parade in December.
