E-maintenance launched
E-maintenance to fix the hospital’s minor breakdowns within the period of 24 hours and major breakdowns within the period of seven days.

The E-maintenance system was officially launched at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital last Thursday.
Its aim is to fix the hospital’s minor breakdowns within the period of 24 hours and major breakdowns within the period of seven days.
The MEC for the Department of Infrastructure of Development (DID) Qedani Mahlangu handed over 52 toolboxes to the hospital’s artisans.
“DID have invested over R9, 659,571 to ensure artisans are fully equipped to carry out maintenance services at health facilities. In line with the strategy, DID is currently reinstating materials stores to ensure that materials are available at all time,” she said.
The artisans were provided with cell phones, toolboxes and vehicles.
“Qualified professionals have been deployed as resident engineers responsible for all maintenance activities at CHBMH, Steve Biko, Dr George Mukhari and Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospitals. Reports from hospital CEO’s have confirmed the success of this initiative,” she said.
