Loyal pensioners who purchase from Lewis stores have been receiving grocery hampers.
This is done to show their appreciation to their customers.
“It is usually the pensioners who keep their accounts up to date and it is Lewis’ way of saying thank you to them,” Ahmed Stiglingh, the store manager, said.
Eva Christians touched the hearts of staff at the store after she lost her husband of 50 years.
She rears her grandchildren and says that she doesn’t have a radio to listen to gospel music.
Stiglingh and his wife bought a radio for Christians, gave her the grocery hamper and a blanket.
“It means a lot that somebody cares.
“Now I can listen to my radio when I can’t fall asleep in the evening,” Christians said.
Every Lewis store gives away 50 grocery hampers and has give-aways throughout the year.
