Little majorette makes her mark
Vilander hopes to compete on an international platform, with majorettes from across the globe.
Britney Vilander, a pupil and majorette at Bernard Isaacs Primary School will be doing Grade 7 this year.
Vilander has been part of the Bernard Isaacs Primary School Majorette Team since 2011.
In 2011 –She performed Flag routine. 2012 –became a Sub Leader of her team and in 2013 she was Head Sub Leader,
• In 2012 Vilander achieved her GMCA Provincial Colours as a Majorette.
• In 2013 Vilander and fellow team member and 2013 Bernard Isaacs Primary School Majorette Leader Raeesah Adams were members of the Gauteng Provincial Team, which took first place at the 2013 SAMCA National Championship in Limpopo, receiving gold medals for outstanding achievement.
• She was a member of the Bernard Isaacs Primary School Majorette Baton Team that achieved 3rd Place – bronze medals at the 2013 SAMCA National Championship in Limpopo.
• On the November 23, Vilander was awarded the title of Bernard Isaacs Primary School Majorette of the Year -2013, for their achievement on and off the field.
• Vilander participated in the 2014 Bernard Isaacs Primary School Majorette Leader Trials on the November 30 and successfully selected to be the 2014 Bernard Isaacs Primary School Majorette Leader.
• Vilander had a desire to participate in the 2013 SAMCA (South African Majorette and Cheerleading Association) Colours Selections and received a sponsorship to participate in this prestigious event.
• On the December 4 Vilander left for Pietermaritzburg KZN to attend and participate in the 2013 SAMCA (South African Majorette and Cheerleading Association) Colours Selections.
• She participated in the selection process from December 4 until 8 with majorettes from the length and breadth of South Africa.
• On December 8 2013 Vilander was awarded her SAMCA Colours, meaning she will be eligible to audition for the National Majorette Team and should she be selected for the team, she will be afforded the opportunity to compete on an international platform, with majorettes from across the globe.
Aside from being a passionate majorette, Britney is a long list of academic achievements (receiving top honour awards at the 2013 Bernard Isaacs Primary School Honours Day) and also involved in ministry as her father the Reverend Calvin Vilander is a minister of the Lutheran Church.
