Cleaning at Mxolisi Primary

Volunteers clean school.

The community and members of the Economic Freedom Fighters were cleaning up at Mxolisis Primary school in Zondi.

The campaign that took place last Saturday was aimed at promoting safety for the children at the school because there was tall grass at the back of the school yard.

There had been swings and they had to be relocated because the grass was growing out of control.

“We volunteered to clean the tall grass because we were concerned of the safety of the children when they are not under the watch of teachers.

“They could be playing and one of them could get lost in the thick and tall grass.

“Most importantly, we always talk about fighting for land so this is our way of taking care of the land we are fighting for,” said campaign organizer Tebogo Mvulane.

Jokhonia Cibi is a parent of a pupil at the school and says that it would have been nice if all willing parents were present to contribute towards a greater good.

“We all want the best for our children but not all of us do something towards achieving that.

“I just wish that the next time we do something like this many more people will join us, I honestly encourage the community to participate more in positive things like cleaning up for our little ones” Cibi said.

Noluthando Mlangeni says that even though she is from Zola, she doesn’t mind doing all the work she was doing because she knows she acting towards positive change.
