Girl wins school fees for writing an essay

No more worry about paying school fees.

Thandi Ralefatane, a 17-year-old girl from Zone Five says dreams come true when actions towards achieving them are taken.

Her wise words come after she won school fees worth R3 500 in a Shoprite competition.

The competition dubbed Dream Big is run annually at the beginning of every year for pupils.

Entrants had to write an essay about what they want to be and put their essays in a box at the Ndofaya Mall supermarket.

Ralefatane’s motivation for entering the competition was that it her mom would be able to pay for her school fees.

She says: “My mom was struggling with my school fees money so I thought I should use the opportunity to help her out.

“I have made my mom proud and that warms my heart.”

When she wrote the essay, she says her instinct told her she was going to win as she credited her writing skills.

“This achievement has taught me that anything is possible only if you work hard to achieve your goal.

“Young people should use opportunities that are right in front of their eyes,” she says.

Her uncle, Sphiwe Dube says he is happy because her mother was going to struggle to pay her fees.

Manger, John Ntuli says making a difference in the lives of others especially their customers is a delight.
