Over the long weekend the police arrested about 40 suspects for various crimes in Meadowlands.
They were arrested for crimes ranging from common assault, malicious damage to property, shoplifting, possession of stolen goods to driving under the influence of liquor, 22 of them were arrested for possession of dagga and drugs.
Police spokesperson, Sibusiso Chauke said: “This tells us that drug abuse is one of the biggest problem in this community.
“The community has been helpful in arresting people dealing and using drugs.”
The police thanked the community for reporting crimes and for being in fighting crimes.
“The only way we will fight these drugs that destroy the futures of young people is if we have assistance from them,” he said.
