The body of a man who was assaulted by a mob in Green Village for allegedly being caught stealing has not been identified.
The unknown African man’s dead body remains in a mortuary in Roodepoort.
Dobsonville police communications officer constable Mzwakhe Xazi said the deceased had head injuries and was bleeding heavily.
Xazi said an ambulance was called to the scene but the man didn’t make it to hospital.
“We are pleading to the community or witnesses to help us resolve this case, anyone with useful information can visit the police station,” he said.
Police are busy with an investigation.
