Dep of Health’s rodents disposal campaign underway

MMC Molwele believes that health risks can be reduced.

MMC for Health and Social Development, Nonceba Molwele said the department is busy with an environmental health programme in the eradication of rodents in communities.

The programme aspires to educate people about keeping the environment clean and healthy to live in.

Molwele said rodents can be found in informal settlements and even in areas that are not hygienic.

She said there was an incident that happened in Alexandra where a child was bitten by a large rat.

Molwele said this was one of the reasons why the department decided to tackle the matter.

“I would believe that if people were informed or educated on environmental issues, health risks would be reduced,” she said.

This will be an ongoing programme.
