Police monitor situation in Chiawelo

Police will continue to monitor the situation and arrest those who misbehave.

More than 100 residents were dispersed with rubber bullets and threatened with canine dogs by police as they were looting a foreign owned shop.

According to JMPD officer on duty Nhlanhla Redebe, the situation won’t be resolved any time soon.

“We tried everything we can to calm the situation, we even fired rubber bullets and threatened them with dogs but we failed and we had to call for a back up.

“We will monitor the situation and make sure that we arrest those who misbehave.”
