Residents steal from foreign nationals

Some foreign nationals watch helplessly as their stock is looted by residents.

Chiawelo residents have attacked and looted a shop that was owned by foreign nationals in their area.

it is alleged by police that residents gained entry into the shop through a broken roof and broke the main front door to allow other residents inside the shop.

Then residents helped themselves to all the available stock inside the shop and took stationery, food and drinks.

Moroka Police Station communications officer John Serala said they are tracking the suspects involved in the incident.

“This morning we received a tip off about a planned robbery but unfortunately we arrived late at the scene and all the stock was looted and only a handful stock was left.

“We are greatful and happy that at this scene no one was hurt, and only food was taken.”
