Job summit attracts over 2000
Entities have already requested for CV's of attendees.
Over 2000 unemployed youth were impacted by a Job Creation Summit that was hosted over four days by the Greater Eldorado Park Youth Skills and Development Centre.
The summit was held at the Don Mateman Hall where companies and recruitment agencies availed themselves to assist the community with job opportunities.
The skills centre has exceeded its limits and engaged with companies and agencies.
“The summit was a major success despite the size and resources of our organisation,” said Ena Adonis from the Greater Eldorado Park Youth Skills and Development Centre.
Pastor Marcus Jacobs spoke to attendees about the importance of an image when going for an interview.
“Who will give you a job when you have tattoos all over your body?
“Represent yourself with integrity, smile, don’t be late for an interview, don’t slouch and listen attentively,” Jacobs told the youth.
He said that rejection for jobs will arise because of lack of character.
Jacobs told attendees that they should focus on the positive and they will see how they will prosper.
“Today we lift the curse of unemployment,” he said before inviting them to stand in prayer.
The Job Creation Summit might be held every six months.
“We are hoping to rope in more companies and increase employment possibilities,” Adonis said.
Some entities have already requested CV’s of those who attended.
While employment is not guaranteed it is a prospect.
“We would like to make known of our insufficiency in resources and inability to assist all with employment but given the nudge to tap into excessive and adequate funding through multiple and various forms of financial injection we could accommodate an enormous part of the Greater Eldorado Park vicinity,” said Adonis.
The centre thanks all partners involved in the initiative.
