Newly elected SGB members to be inaugurated

The 12 000 SGB members that will be inaugurated are from 2 190 public schools across Gauteng and they will represent over 28 000 newly elected members.

After School Governing Body (SGB) elections for Gauteng public schools, lasted from March 6 to 28, the Gauteng MEC for Education, Panyaza Lesufi will tomorrow, officially inaugurate over 12 000 new SGB members in the province.

According to the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) , the 12 000 SGB members from 2 190 public schools across Gauteng, representing over 28 000 newly elected members will be inaugurated at a Ceremony to be held at the Coca Cola Dome.

During this ceremony, the department will also share its vision of building a world class education system enabled by technology.

Department spokesperson, Phumla Sekhonyane said: “The GDE successfully conducted this year’s SGB elections during March.

“These are the third largest elections after the National General and Local Government Elections.

“We thank all parents who participated in the election process.”
