Residents have now blocked Phela Street and Khumalo Street in Orlando West.
They say they will not stop protesting until all their service delivery grievances are met.
Vilakazi Street was closed earlier but police removed the rubble for motorists to gain access.
Some protesters were arrested earlier.
“We will not stop until all our grievances are met, if it means closing off all the streets we will do so,” said resident Kabelo Letha.
Police are continuing to arrest protesters while also monitoring the situation.
