Metro police officer arrested for rape

Rape victim to undergo counselling following a devastating ordeal.

Independent Police Investigative Directorate spokesperson, Moses Dlamini confirmed the arrest of a metro police officer who allegedly raped a 16-year-old teenager from Bramfischer.

Dlamini said the incident occurred on May 14 at the metro police officer’s home in Bramfischer.

It is alleged that he (the policeman) spiked the drink of the teenager before forcing himself onto her.

He was arrested the same day.

“The policeman appeared at the Protea Magistrate Court on a charge of rape.

“The court proceeding on the matter was postponed to give the accused time to file a formal bail application,” said Dlamini.
