Snake Park to get satellite police station

New police station in Snake Park to be bigger and better.

When addressing residents about the Doornkop Police Station, Gauteng premier David Makhura said the police station in that community is not a satellite station, because a satellite station is only temporary.

“A satellite is a temporary police station when government is busy preparing to build a proper infrastructure.

“We know that the station in Doornkop is short staffed and doesn’t have enough vehicles,” said Makhura.

Makhura said the first intervention by government is to ensure that there is a proper satellite police station in the area.

This temporary station will be able to accommodate more people, computers will be provided, enough chairs, vehicles and more.

“We will have the proper satellite police station before the end of the year,” he said.

He said the reason a police station has not been build yet is due to a lack of bigger space because to build a new proper station they require 3.7 hectares.

Makhura said once this amount of space is identified, government will proceed to construct the police station.
