Service delivery protest hits Pennyville
Residents angered by lack of water and waste removal services.
Traffic flow was disrupted on New Canada Road on Monday morning when Pennyville residents embarked on a protest action.
They barricaded the road with burning tyres and stones. According to the ward councillor Basil Douglas residents were complaining about lack of service delivery.
“The people don’t have enough water and they don’t get proper service from Pikitup.
“We have been trying to get these issues resolved for a very long time,” said Douglas.
The situation remained calm after JMPD was called to the scene.
And traffic is back to normal.
