Surrounding the shootings and recent violence that has taken place, residents are now living in fear saying that it is a drug war with no ending.
Among some of the incidents one lady and two men were arrested on possession and selling of drugs in Newclare.
This comes after the police received an anonymous tip-off leading to the unexpected arrests.
An anonymous resident said drug dealing has now become a public business.
“Drug dealers sell their merchandise in front of children and they do not care who sees them,” she said.
The Sophiatown Community Policing Forum (CPF) said the three perpetrators were caught with over 100 packets of CAT (also known as Methcathinone).
“We have been working closely with the police and these offenders are now in custody as we speak,” said the CPF.
SAPS now increasing visibility in the area.
