Stolen car recovered in Diepkloof

Police apprehend two suspects and will soon appear in court.

In the early hours of January 31, the K9 Unit was informed of a tracking stolen bakkie which they traced and found in Diepkloof Zone 4.

The K9 Unit was informed of the whereabouts of the car that was reported missing in Boksburg by the Control room.

Two men were found with the stolen car and when they saw the police they both jumped out of the car with pistols pointed at the police.

Police returned fire, one of them was injured, and the other one apprehended.

The two suspects from Mozambique are aged 27 and 40.

According to Captain Phephi Matlou Mteto, the communications officer for Diepkloof SAPS, the two suspects confessed how they have been terrorising the community of Boksburg and how they stole the car after breaking into a house.

“One of the suspects alleged how they left the canopy of the bakkie in his house in Zondi.”

Captain Mteto said: “We are glad to have been able to recover the stolen car while bringing the perpetrators to justice.”

The injured suspect was taken to hospital under police guard, while the other one is in police custody while investigations are underway.

The two suspects will appear in court soon.
