24-year-old busted for shoplifting at Maponya Mall
Arrested suspect has been linked with other crimes
A 24-year-old man from Pimville appeared briefly in the Kliptown Magistrates Court on Wednesday after being arrested for shoplifting at Maponya Mall.
Police officers who were on patrol at the mall were called to one of the shops after a man was caught allegedly shoplifting.
“Upon his arrest, the man was linked to other crimes which include a theft of a vehicle.
“He was then charged and appeared briefly before the magistrate,” said police spokesperson Captain Hitler Ngwenya.
Station commander at Kliptown Police Station brigadier Dalipukimar Baijnath has applauded police officers for their dedication to fighting crime in the area.
“We extend gratitude to the community which has been assisting us in making our area a better place for all,” he said.
