Vox Pop: Things young girls understand about substance abuse
Children speak up about substance abuse
During the Pimville Local Drug Action Committee (LDAC) young girls and boys were given lessons on substance abuse, HIV/Aids, and other related issues. We conducted a Vox Pop asking them about what they learned.

Sesona Busika (10)
I have learned about sexual issues. It is not easy for our parents to talk to us about these things, so this was a great opportunity to learn and understand.

Maria Masikane (15)
I have learned that being a girl comes with a lot of responsibilities. As girls, we experience a lot of sexual issues. Now, this has taught me to always to be careful and take responsibility for my actions.

Amanda Mbonani (15)
I have learned about the dangers of substance abuse and how to stay away from them. I also got an opportunity to learn about HIV/AIDS in depth.

Njabulo Msibi (14)
I have learned about the issue of girls and money/material things and the consequences they face when they throw themselves at older men ‘blessers’, sleeping with them in return for money.
