"We teach them how to read aloud and we have had someone in the school to help them do poetry and short stories."

Bapedi Primary School learners were fired up during the introduction of Reading Month in their school.

The coordinator for the Reading Month in the school, Sekgabolana Manaka said that the kids were encouraged to read and the aim of celebrating Reading Month is for them to know how to read from Grade R to Grade Seven.
She said, “We teach them how to read aloud and we have had someone in the school to help them do poetry and short stories.”
Learners like Makhadzi Monale who enjoys reading her local newspaper said, “I love reading because I have a future and dreams.”
The reading aloud exercise is mainly purposed to teach the young learners the pronunciation of words and to get them used to the language.
The school principal could not hide the joy he had for his learners as he watched them excitedly welcome Reading Month in their school.
He said, “We are trying to get rid of the tendency of the kids who cannot read from Grade Four and upwards because we want to raise and teach children who will be capable in the future.”
