Queening young woman has sights set high
DYK: Pageants South Africa has crowned over 6000 title holders
Since 1999, Pageants South Africa has crowned over 6000 title holders after identifying that South Africa desperately needed a pageantry system that is honest, fair and above-board.
These titleholders are involved in a number of charities across the nation and have assisted an estimated 800 000 people in need in South Africa.
According to Tashlyn Kenny-Louw, a Miss Teen SA delegate, she is one of those people who would really like to make a difference. Although it’s not 800 00 people she’s helping, a little goes a long way.
Kenny-Louw said, “So the main reason why I entered this competition was born out of a desire to go out there and help young women and bring out the queen that they’re destined to be inside of them.”
She runs her own non-profit organisation which is sponsored by UDM International.
UDM International is an up-market direct marketing company that focuses on direct sales campaigns in the insurance, cosmetics and educational fields.
They provide her with sanitary towels and toiletries which she distributes to about 10 girls in Eldorado Park who are unable to afford these products.
She said, “The most amazing thing about giving out these things is when you see the smiles that form on these young girls’ faces and you actually give them the hope to know that they can carry on.”
She also said that it helps the girls feel good that there is someone out there who is looking out for them because they do not have that support in the community.
According to her, the lack of support is the reason why many girls go astray and lose their sense of purpose, sense of royalty and the need to be a queen.
She added that she would like to be the voice, the hand and the reason for the smile on a girl’s face. She is driven by the mantra, ‘She is a queen because her soul is royalty’ which motivates her to keep going.
If you would like to see Tashlyn Kenny-Louw making the difference for girls in Eldos all you have to do is vote for her by SMS-ing “J3” to 47087.
