Educated children equal an educated nation

EFF and CoJ donate goodies to 200 underprivileged

It saddens a lot of people when they hear that there are children who are underprivileged.

This is the reason many non-profit organisations are founded across the globe.

A lot of the times people don’t really care for the needs of the children and some are genuine sweethearts who are actually willing and able to make the difference.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leadership in the City of Johannesburg, on September 13, had given away goodies to an estimated 200 underprivileged children based in Devland, which is literally a stone’s throw away from Eldorado Park.

James “Sofasonke” Mpanza was founder and leader from the mid-1940s of the Sofasonke Party of Orlando Township, Johannesburg, and a reformer for better housing.

In 1944 he led thousands of Africans from Orlando to set up a huge shantytown in the veld, with Mpanza as their unofficial mayor. This led to the development of the nickname,”Sofasonke” which translates to, “we shall all die.”

The blighted area movement created pressures leading to the construction of modern-day Soweto.

The James Sofasonke Mpanza Region celebrated its regional chairperson’s birthday with a different gesture.

Fighter Musa Novela and deputy secretary fighter Kgabo Hlonyana donated birthday goodies to the underprivileged children in one of the underdeveloped areas in Soweto.

About 200 children from four different day care centre in Ward 119 received gifts at the Banners of truth next to the Eldorado Fire Station opposite the Matlapeng Shopping Mall.

These gifts were funded by the two EFF leaders from their own pockets. This random act of kindness is a true reflection of the EEF philosophy that all children are equal.

Therefore, all children from all walks of life should enjoy equal rights and privileges regardless of their background.
