The Word Liver Youth Foundation (WLYF) is an independent organisation whose mission is making the first chance possible for young people making good choices. Ashley Sauls, WLYF president said, “Our belief is that ‘goetes moet balance’.”
Society is structured in such a way that it provides second chances for young people who have made bad decisions and choices, which is a very good thing.
WLYF is saying that it should not be at the expense of the good young people, in other words, ‘goetes moet balance’.
Tré and Justin are just the kind of young people the foundations aims to help.
The pair has been lifelong friends and their journey started long before they even knew what the word ‘gymnastics’ meant.
They attended crèche together at Feed My Lambs, attended primary school together at Eldocrest Primary School and now they even go to Sir John Adamson High School together, their whole lives are in sync.
The Thoreso Career Fund (TCF), in partnership with Jack Laps, a United States organisation, helps make young people’s dreams come true. TCF has a bit of a personal touch to it for Sauls as his stillborn nephew was named Thoreso Jaden Sauls.
He said, “To be stillborn meant that death robbed my nephew of his first chance.”
WLYF has also helped out two young women who battled with their tuition at the university. Amber-Moore Sallie is a student at the University of Johannesburg who is pursuing her studies in biochemical technology.
The foundation helped pay her fees which were in arrears, enabling her to continue reaching for her dreams. The other is Nuturchia Petersen, a first-year law student, who was provided with a brand-new laptop.
WLYF and TCF would like to help Tré and Justin get to Bulgaria to compete in the World Age Group Games in November. The two should be leaving on November 16 until November 19.
A concert will be held at Jireh Ministries in Goud Street, ‘Old Eldos‘ on October 20 in order to raise funds for these two big dreamers who aim to be Olympic athletes in 2020.
A ticket to the concert will cost R 100 to help Eldos very own represent South Africa in the World Champs.
