Can education help children improve socially and academically?
Young Voice Academy's education seminar
Young Voice Academy (YOVA) hosted their second education seminar at Kopanong Hall.
The objective of hosting the seminar was to come up with alternative ways and map up the way forward on how to make education help children improve socially and academically.
Education stakeholders including local schools’ principals, day care centres principals and After Care principals were invited to take part in the education seminar.
Rapelang Semente YOVA founder said they involved education stakeholders from the grassroots level because they play an integral part in the uplifting of education of the children from early stages of their lives.
“We aim at establishing an educational support for our local youth and YOVA members. We want them to excel both academically and socially, hence the theme of the event was called Nothing Above Education.
“This is our second education seminar this year. The seminar gave us a perfect platform to unpack and report back our activities annual activities as YOVA to the public,” said Rapelang.
Kopanong Hall Centre manager Nthabiseng Ramolahloane said the central message of the seminar was about education, which is why we are calling for the local creches to work together and learn from each other.
“Local day care centres must share information for them to succeed. They should host a joint ceremony instead of separate graduation ceremonies to save costs.
“We want to encourage children to participate in sports ranging from swimming, athletics and drama at an early age,” said Ramolahloane.
She said sports plays important role in instilling discipline and respect in the upbringing of the child.
