Celebrating and spoiling seniors
Our seniors need to be celebrated for the tremendous sacrifices they made for us.

Pensioners were spoiled rotten by the Killarney United Brothers Society (KUBS) at the Walter Sisulu Hall yesterday.
The society is made up of men who grew up together on the dusty streets of Killarney and Orlando in Soweto.
Sipho Nyembe of Kubs said that they were just honouring their grandmothers and grandfathers for tolerating them while growing up.
“Today’s celebration is on a small scale but we’d love to eventually celebrate our elderly on a much larger scale.
“I would like to challenge other organisations and societies to honour their elders whenever they can and never to forget their roots.”

Walter Sisulu Hall was filled with gentle whispers and laughter as the brothers, who all wore red, gave speeches.
Even the principal for Madwaleni Secondary School in Orlando, Vuyo Mkhwanazi came to the hall to thank seniors for their diligence and faithfulness.
Mkhwanazi said that societies are built on moral values and when they were growing up they didn’t just have Sunday schools, but they had religious lessons at school too.
Mkhwanazi said, “Religious education didn’t only teach us the respect of other religions but also values and morals. “This subject taught us about the higher authority which made us revere the immediate authority, which were our teachers.”
