ICYMI: Senseless killings should stop

Justice for Jerome Lionel Kroats.

Last year, Eldorado Park has lost many of their community members. The community lost family, leaders as well as influential souls.
On January 1, a family lost an uncle, a son and a cousin, to a bullet of gun violence in the community.
Jerome Lionel Kroats was brutally murdered on the corner of Michigan and Maryland Street in Eldorado Park Extension Seven.

The Kroats and Davies family held a candle lighting service on the very corner that he was murdered. Families that have been a part of the #NotInMyCommunity were also part of the service.
According to the family, Kroats died a hero as he saved a family from ruthless thugs who then took his life.
Kroats’ niece said, “I’m Cordelia Job and I’m representing the Davies family.

“On the first of January, while families were celebrating and ushering in the new year we suffered a great loss.
“Jerome Kroats came to the rescue of a family which was being robbed. He tried to get the family to safety but unfortunately for him, he did not make it. Jerome was shot and killed like many other families in Eldorado Park.
‘We have still not found justice and it has almost been a year. We have still not found the closure that we need for the senseless killing of Jerome.”

She then said, “We stand together at a candle lighting ceremony and we are saying that enough is enough. We cannot allow this to continue in Eldorado Park.
“As part of the Not In My Community movement, we are joined by many mothers, fathers, daughters that have suffered the same fate at the hands of these criminals.”
Job made a call to the community and said, “Eldorado Park we need to stand together and put an end to the senseless killings of our people, I say again today, not in my community.”
