Noordgesig residents stressing over wrong billing info

Billing fiasco still not resolved.

For years residents of Noordgesig have been struggling to resolve the issue of wrong billing and double addresses. People residing in the area fail to understand how revenue services calculate the bills.

Pensioners’ receive letters of demand that they should pay a huge sum of money that is not even equal to their annual grant money.

The chairperson of the Service Delivery task team Raven Martin said as long as there is wrong billing and the billing company does not come to the people to explain the strategy they use to calculate they will not allow any meter readers in the area.

He said their main concern is how meter readers continue reading when the whole system is wrong and people are given two addresses.

“It’s funny because even people who don’t even have meter boxes receive letters of final demands, so we are interested in hearing how exactly do they get the figures,” asked Martin.

Marthin said even the Mayor knows that the is a crisis. He said in 2018 they are still continuing with their project and they even met with the involved stakeholders to ask them to come to the people with solutions.

He said as a community they feel that it’s not fair. The leader said since the is no way forward they think they need to mobilise the community and come up with their our own resolution.

His main concern is the rate of unemployment in the area. Marthin suggested that the revenue services should get a company in the area that will assist in meter reading and employ the locals.Martin’s suggestion will also create radical economic transformation in their society.

“We want to make it clear that we are not fighting, we will only use protest as the last resort because we need to follow protocol. We still stand by our words no meter readers are allowed in the area,” concluded Martin.
