Miss Soweto on how Madiba inspires her
Miss Soweto shares with us how Madiba influenced her life and reign.
Five years after the passing of the father of the nation, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, his influence still resonates to South Africans across all ages.
Current Miss Soweto Busisiwe Mmotla relates how the spirit of Mandela has influenced her into being the person that she is and how his legacy keeps her motivated.

“Mandela Day is not only about celebrating the life of a legend but it’s about following the values of uTata and inspiring change.
“To take action and create a community that encourages the spirit of Ubuntu and togetherness.
To make the essence and the spirit of Mandela a reality, Mmotla is currently on a book drive that will be unveiled on Mandela Day.
This book drive was done with the intention of providing literacy support to a school in her community, as part of ploughing back and in honour of Mandela.
“Tata believed in a youth that is emancipated both mentally and financially because the struggle he went through was for the future of the country.
“He fought for the emancipation of a black child thus we as the youth need to fight to restore his legacy and make sure that we pave a better path for the future youth.
“We need to show that we’ve moved on from the oppression of the past by using our education to empower ourselves and most importantly, we should use the opportunities offered to us for a greater good”, said Busisiwe Mmotla.
