The annual street food and beverage event, this year was held at the Kliptown Square on Saturday, September 8 and Sunday, September 9.

The event is geared at celebrating the significance of popular Kota, also known as Sphathlo or Bunnychow, a popular local street food and the name ‘Kota’, comes from the word, ‘quarter’, referring to the quarter of a loaf of bread, hollowed and filled with layers of polony, cheese, eggs, fries, various sauces etc. Kota has evolved over time with many exploring unique ingredients.

The event saw vendors put their remarkable Kota making talents to good use and many of them were happy with the support they have received.

“I am really happy, this is a great initiative for us vendors and small business owners, I am attending this for the second time and I must say, I am really impressed. We have received a lot of support and some are even asking where we are based,” said Nonhle Mondi of Nonhle’s Kitchen.
