High-speed chase ends with Eldorado Park man’s arrest
A man was arrested after a high-speed chase in Eldorado Park allegedly led police to a 9mm pistol and ammunition.
A 34-year-old man was arrested for allegedly possessing an unlicensed firearm and ammunition following a high-speed chase in Eldorado Park on August 31.
According to a police statement, Eldorado Park Crime Prevention members and Gauteng Traffic Wardens were conducting crime prevention duties in Heatherlands Street, Eldorado Park Ext 4, at about 22:00 when they heard multiple gunshots.
As members approached the area, they spotted a blue Toyota Cross SUV speeding away.

Police gave chase with their blue lights and siren activated, but the driver failed to stop. The pursuit continued for about five minutes before the vehicle was stopped on Pennsylvania Street, Eldorado Park Ext 7.
Members approached and searched the driver, allegedly finding a 9mm Canik pistol and two magazines in his possession.
One magazine was empty, while the other contained one live round.
The man could not produce a firearm licence or any documentation for the weapon.
He was arrested and the firearm seized for further investigation.
Police opened a case of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The suspect is expected to appear in the Protea Magistrate’s Court today, September 2.
