Noordgesig primary contractor pleased by the progress made
"We don't want people to protest but we want people from the ward to benefit from the project."
The long-awaited project in Noordgesig Primary School is showing rapid progress and residents are also benefiting.
About 11 SMMEs and one hundred and twenty-four general labours. Classes are now built and soon they will be building the very first school hall in the area.
Main Constructor Yikusasa Derick van Rooyen said he is happy about the progress of the project and the quality of work they are producing with the community.
“Everybody is working together and united, it simply shows that we are a family,” he said.

He stated that the only challenge they are afraid will affect their progress in the rain because they are fast approaching the rainy season. He extended his gratitude’s to the community of the area for their good behavior.
Community Liaising Officer Raven Martin said they do not have any challenges so far in the site and no cases of stolen materials. He added that they are busy looking at files of those who applied for plastering.
The councillor of Ward 29 Brenda Dammie said she is satisfied by the progress, although the will always be hiccups and complains. She said she received a lot of complaints from the residents but they are working hard to fix it.
“We don’t want people to protest but we want people from the ward to benefit from the project,” said Dammie.
