Mndebele crowned Soweto’s Best Grade 7 Speller
Spellathon Competition helps with vocabulary
Miss Soweto 2017 Busisiwe Mmotla in partnership with White Star as a major sponsor, Clinix Health Group, and Nali Bali hosted an spellathon competition at Morris Isaacson School in Central Western Jabavu.
The main aim is to motivate learners to take keen interest in enriching their vocabulary and pronunciation skills to become effective.
The spellathon competition consisted of schools from Luyolo Senior Primary, Isu’Lihle Higher Primary, Indyebo Combined School, Impumelelo Combined School, Emisebeni Primary, and Thulani Primary, where the schools competed for the title of Soweto Best Grade 7 Speller.
Mthokozisi Mndebele was crowed Soweto Best Grade 7 speller from Luyolo Senior Primary, Penelope Zwane took second position and Kimberly Mncube took the third position.
Mmotla said this competition will contribute towards improving the Learners ability to read and write competently.
“We have faith that this competition will stimulate an interest among pupils in learning of their languages and other subjects.”
