Women Talk, an organisation with women issues in mind hosted their first workshop for the year at the Albertus Pop Centre.
Founder Priscilla Maart said the aim of the workshops and the organisation as a whole is to create a safe space where women can come together to talk about issues and to show support for one another.
With registration starting as early as 9; 30 am, the women who attended the workshop were treated to motivational talks and group sessions where the ladies were allowed to vent and share personal experiences.

During the first motivational talk, Maarts daughter – Hope Jourd spoke to the women about purpose.
“We need to learn how to live a purposeful life because if we do not find our purpose, we aren’t truly living,” said Jourd.
During the second motivational talk, Maart spoke about emotional baggage and why it is so important to forgive and let go of what is preventing you from living a happy life.
“We are all real women who go through real tragedies and are faced with real problems. What I want to teach women is that it’s okay to speak up.

The minute we hold it in we become sick and depressed. You don’t have to face it on your own, it’s okay to seek help,” said Maart.
“As much as we go through painful times as women we need to realise our worth, notice the abuse and get out, appreciate yourself, want better for yourself, love yourself and most importantly, forgive yourself,” she added.
After lunch was served, Jourd lead the third motivational session which focused on the beauty of women. “We are all unique, special and wonderfully made. Beauty comes from the inside,” said Jourd.

“It’s so important to look at yourself in the mirror and compliment yourself. Tell yourself that you are beautiful on a daily basis. We need to stop comparing ourselves to others, that’s where insecurities stem from,” she added.
The last session was about what it means to be a woman. “It’s important to look after ourselves and realise how we treat others. As women we need to uplift one another, we’re stronger together,” said Maart.
The next Women Talk workshop will be held on May 4.
