Samuel Mokati using his talent to put food on the table
Earning a living by entertaining
Being unemployed in the townships may lead to people committing crime to try and earn a living. But for Samuel Mokati, crime has never been a solution. Mokati has made it a point that he does not get into criminal activities by becoming a stilts walker and balloon sculpture to earn a living.
According to him, he has doing that job for five years and he is able to help to put food on the table for his family and is able maintain his personal needs.
“Seeing that it is difficult to find a job these days, I decided on how I can get extra cash for my family.
“That is when I decided to use my talent to create my own job and entertain the community by using stilts, making balloons and selling them in various malls,” said Mokati.
Makati said even though he does not make enough cash, he can be able to live. He does his walking Stilts every weekends in various malls says he get much needed support from the people.
His advice to youngsters is to stay away from crime and substance abuse but rather create jobs for themselves as it is very difficult to get employment.
