Seven year old boy burned to death in Zola

A Zola family is still shocked after a mystery fire that broke out in the middle of the night claimed a life.

Banele Sphesihle Mcira (7) died from a mystery fire at house number 864 in Zola. It is alleged that the fire started at approximately 12 midnight and was extinguished by 3 in the morning. “I felt the heat coming from the back of my body, I shouted for help and unfortunately we don’t know what the source if the fire was,” said Mcira’s aunt, Nombulelo Mkosi.

Mcira’s siblings sustained wounds from the fire.

“My baby boy was born on this day, we are supposed to celebrate his birthday instead of mourning for his death. Words can’t explain the sorrow I’m going through right now,” said the Mcira’s mother, Sibongile Mcira.

This is what was left of the house.

Mcira’s mother tried to break the window in order to rescue the family as she scream for help. A neighbour came to their rescue but unfortunately it was too late.

The deceased’s body was burnt beyond recognition and died on the scene.
