Winter crime awareness from Diepkloof police
People should avoid secluded places and passages which are so many in Diepkloof and are all known by perpetrators.
It is the winter season and as a result, it gets darker earlier and in the morning it takes longer for the sun to chase away the darkness, so Diepkloof SAPS desires people to be aware of crimes that people often fall victim to because of this season’s nature.
Zenzile Tshabalala of the Diepkloof CPF Deputy Chairperson mentioned how it is wiser especially now for women and people in general to always travel in groups when going to work in the morning and when returning in the evening because criminals target the isolated.
Tshabalala said, “In fact, women should organise whistles and always keep them in hand because criminals in Diepkloof often take advantage of the darkness and the scarcity of people.”

Tshabalala said, “As the station we have experienced many circumstances where women go out partying with total strangers and get violated and raped as a result, so we appeal to women to be cautious and rather stay home if they don’t have money to go out partying with a solid plan to make it back home safe.”
Tshabalala explained that due to the growing number of the people who complain about robberies, she motivates the unemployed male members of households around the community to play active roles in keeping their employed loved ones safe when they go to and from work by accompanying them.
Tshabalala said, “I cannot explain or express how important uBuntu is in combating crime, if we show each other uBuntu by watching out for each other, then these crimes would cease.”
