A total of 15 young girls between the ages of 14 and 19 were afforded the opportunity to be a part of a Women’s day mentorship programme that was held at the Valverde Eco Hotel in Krugersdorp – A partnership between Ladder2Success, Cirebelle and the Gail Britoe Foundation.
Youth life coach and founder of Ladder2Success, Sehaam Bateman, said that the aim of the mentorship programme was to assist teenage girls in learning life skills that will benefit them in creating a brighter future for themselves.
“Firstly, I wanted them to be in a different space and to have fun. I wanted to remind them of how special they are and I wanted to remind them that they matter,” said Bateman.
“The female employees from Cirebelle were a part of the workshop as well, the idea was for the young girls to learn from the older women and vice versa,” she added.
During the motivational session Bateman touched on a variety of topics fit for women. Bateman encourage the girls to always be grateful and to always work on maintaining a positive mindset.
“Gratitude is the most important trait one can have. The moment we start being grateful for what we have, our lives will start changing. The problem is that we get into the habit of complaining and focusing on the negative. It’s all about your mindset,” said Bateman.
Videan Jacobs from the Gail Britoe Foundation said that the experience was one she won’t be forgetting in a hurry.
“This was special for all the girls because it’s not something we can afford to do all the time. I am truly grateful to Sehaam Bateman for making this a special day for all the girls. We all learned alot and we are walking away better women and ready take control of our future,” said Jacobs.
