Okwethu Power Foundation respond to hunger crisis in Soweto
Give, donate, volunteer, see, and make a change.
Okwethu Power Foundation just had to respond to the hunger crisis in the country with a door to door drive delivering food parcels to various families that could use them for their Women’s Month Project, because people are stewards of each other’s dignity, every day.
After the NPO that desires to give back to the community by restoring dignity to the disadvantaged did research and discovered that at least 25 000 people including more than 10 000 children perish because of starvation and related causes each day they sought to do something.
Thandi Sithole of the NPO said, “Some 854 Million People worldwide are estimated to be undernourished and high food prices may drive a hundred more people into impoverishment and starvation, after learning about these statistics we decided to start an immediate delivery of five parcels with food plus hygiene products to impoverished families and households.”

The foundation strives to give back to the community through different initiatives and for August, the month of Women and their feminine strength, peaceful ways and grace; the foundation paid five families a visit with essentials every family needs like food and hygiene items so that they manage to maintain personal hygiene during the news of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Sithole said, “Two of the families we had paid a visit were of pensioners, one of a parent with a disability, a child-headed family and single and unemployed women.”
The project was sponsored by Shoprite, private donors, and the Okwethu Power Foundation Exco Team.

The child-headed family at Emndeni and the unemployed single mother at Molapo amongst the five families got a bit of relief from their worries about the next meal.
A philanthropist, Elke Govertsen said, “We are stewards of each other’s dignity every day, how we give, how we take and how we are bent and broken by each other.
“Give, donate, volunteer, share, clothe, hold, acknowledge, make eye contact, greet.
“Really see the people you pass every day because there is nothing more undignified than ignoring another human being. This conversation is as much about your own dignity as it is about another person’s.”
