Cllr Mlungisi Mabaso vows to bring back service delivery in Kliptown

On arrival, MMC Mabaso directed Housing officials and service providers to fast track service delivery in a form of re-blocking.

The Member of the Mayoral Committee for Housing in the City of Johannesburg, Cllr Mlungisi Mabaso, accompanied by officials, visited the community of Kliptown after receiving several service delivery complaints from community leaders.

Kliptown residents had laid bare poor service delivery in their community.

On arrival, MMC Mabaso directed Housing officials and service providers to fast track service delivery in a form of re-blocking, followed by electrification of units as well as implementing turnkey development to provide residents with their needs.

Over the past few years, residents of Kliptown have been neglected. It is for this reason that MMC Mabaso has vowed to bring services to the community of Kliptown.

“We want to assure our residents that the Government of Local Unity is determined to ensure that service delivery is brought to our people. We have been elected to the positions we occupy by voters and we must ensure that we hit the ground running by providing them with services as guaranteed in the Constitution.

“When service delivery protests occur, it paints a bad picture that the City of Joburg is incapable of executing its duties. We want to reassure the residents of Kliptown and other areas within our City, that we want to foster better relations between communities by providing services to our people,” said MMC Mabaso.

It must be noted that although residents have immediate demands for service delivery, there are processes that must be followed.

“We, therefore, call on Kliptown residents to be patient with the City as we move towards bringing temporary and permanent services into the community,” said MMC Mabaso.
