Scrapyard’s last minute win at the Power Park grounds one day tournament

In the second half, the game become tough as Scrapyard was working hard to get an equalising goal but United's defend was also on point.

Four teams battled it out  for a R2000 stake in a one-day tournament last weekend.

As the stakes were high and the competition strong, soccer lovers, coaches, and players had a massive role to play in ensuring that their sides walk away with the price money.

United FC went head to head with Scrapyard FC in the finals on Sunday, October 18.

In the first half of the game it all looked good for the United as their number 3 player Potreka scored an opening goal of the match which ended up as the only goal of the first half.

In the second half, the game become tough as Scrapyard was working hard to get an equalising goal but United’s defend was also on point. Supporters of Scrapyard were praying and hoping for an equalising goal.

Their prayers were answered when Scrapyard’s number 3 Luthando Dyasi scored a goal a few minutes before the referee blew the whistle to end the game which put the score at a tie of 1-1.

In the penalties, United gave their opponents hope when their goalkeeper missed a penalty kick. They had scored four goals but their victory was short-lived when their goalkeeper’s goal was trapped.

Khusta (Mkhuseli Magadla) scored a victory goal for his team Scrapyard which gave them a 5-4 win against United FC.

Crapyard FC’s coach said he was happy that they won as they really needed the money to buy stuff for the team and wish that the government can sponsor grassroots soccer as they play a vital role in keeping children away from drugs and crime.
